A significant pilgrimage took place at Mount Athos from September 6 to September 9, focusing on the spiritual heritage and historical significance of the region. This four-day journey allowed participants to visit twelve monasteries, each representing a unique facet of Orthodox Christian monastic life.
The delegation, which received the blessing of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, included Bishop Aldo Berardi, Archbishop Ghattas Hazim, Fr. Sliman Hifawi, Fr. Boutrus Gharib, seminarian Pedro Mendoza, Mr. Pierre Maalouf, and Father Ephrem Al Toumi, underscoring the ecumenical nature of the pilgrimage.
During the visit, the group was welcomed at the renowned monasteries of Simonopetra and Vatopedi, which hold significant historical importance in the Orthodox tradition. Bishop Berardi described the journey as a “historic pilgrimage,” highlighting its role in fostering understanding and unity among Catholics and Orthodox Christians.
