The Vatican published details regarding upcoming liturgical events involving Pope Leo XIV, notably a celebration of the Holy Mass on 14 October, at the conclusion of a Meeting commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Apostolic Exhortation Amoris laetitia, which deals with love in the family.
Amoris laetitia was originally published on 19 March 2016, the Solemnity of St Joseph, following a two-year Synod on the Family that was convened by Pope Francis to address contemporary issues affecting families. As part of the anniversary observance, Pope Leo XIV has called together presidents from the world’s Episcopal Conferences to gather in Rome to reflect on the teachings of Amoris laetitia and discuss how to effectively proclaim the Gospel to families in today's context.
In addition to the anniversary Mass, Pope Leo XIV will preside over several other liturgical events in the forthcoming weeks. He will preside at a number of liturgical events, including Mass at the Basilica Shrine of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Genazzano, located just outside of Rome. This shrine holds particular significance to the Pope as he visited it two days following his election on 10 May 2025. The Basilica is managed by the Augustinian Order, to which he belonged prior to his papal election.
Additionally, Pope Leo will undertake an Apostolic Journey to France from 25 to 28 September. This visit will include a visit to the UNESCO headquarters and several liturgies planned across Paris, Lourdes, and Metz. He will also celebrate Mass for the inauguration of the Academic Year at the Pontifical Universities on 8 October.
