Pope Leo XIV shared lunch with refugees and guests at the Pontifical Villas in Castel Gandolfo on Saturday, 11 July. This event, dedicated to the themes of welcome, fraternity, and human dignity, aligned with the Pope's mission to foster compassion and connection among individuals.
During the gathering, the Pope engaged with his guests, who included 13 refugees supported by Centro Astalli, the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) Centre in Rome. They had the opportunity to visit the Pontifical Villas and explore the scenic Borgo Laudato si'.
Francesca Cuomo, the communications manager at Centro Astalli, noted that the event aimed to help the refugees feel welcomed and affirmed in their dignity, which is a crucial aspect of their journey.
