Pope Leo XIV has called on Catholics worldwide to join him this July in a spirit of prayer aimed at fostering respect for human life. This appeal was made public through the monthly "Pray with the Pope" video, produced by the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network.
In his message, the Pope expressed his fundamental belief that each person is created by God in love, emphasizing the call to live life to its fullest. He stated, "Each person is a sacred gift that reflects your face, from the first instant of existence to the final breath of their journey on earth." He implored everyone to seek the grace to acknowledge and safeguard the distinct and irreplaceable value of every individual.
The Pope urged followers to embrace life unconditionally, to nurture fragility with care, to respect each life stage, and to advocate for those who lack a voice. He acknowledged the collective failings in showing indifference and indulging in a culture of disregard, saying, "Give us a new heart, always ready to choose life, and generous hands that protect it through concrete actions."
Furthermore, Pope Leo XIV prayed for the Church to embody a vibrant witness to the Gospel of life, envisioning it as a welcoming space where every individual is celebrated, no one feels alienated, and dignity is continually honored. He concluded with a prayer for divine assistance in learning to embrace life with the same love Jesus demonstrated: "May we proclaim, in words and actions, that every human life is worth the total gift of ourselves." This intention aligns with the mission of the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network, which encourages prayerful reflection on the critical challenges facing humanity.
